Addiction Therapist
In a Residential treatment environment, the Addiction Therapist works with individuals who have acute and/or chronic addiction issues and concurrent issues. Our Therapists engage in clinical counselling. As part of our Therapeutic Community, our Therapists also engage in community living activities with our residents including mealtimes and recreation activities.
Our successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills with individuals and groups (concurrent/complex capable), group facilitation experience, crisis intervention and containment skills. They will also have the ability to understand the dynamics of offender behaviour and assess their needs and risks. This is a fast-paced environment, so excellent time management and organizational skills are essential.
Hours of Work:
Days (Monday to Friday) with additional on-call responsibilities (on a rotational basis), therefore some evening, weekend and/or overnight work may be required.

Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group therapy, and psycho-educational programming/services
- Develop individual treatment plans with residents and complete required assessments, reports and documentation
- Utilize evidence-informed practices including (but not limited to) Motivational Interviewing, Stage-Matched Intervention, Trauma-Informed approaches, CBT and DBT
- Attend both clinical and administrative meetings
- Monitor resident progress and coordinate resident treatment
- Participate in program development & evaluation and complete statistics
- On a rotational basis, provides on-call services during evenings and weekends
- Conduct educational presentations with residents as required
- Respond to crisis and urgent situations
- Transport residents to appointments, hospitals, etc. in agency vehicle
- Liaise with family members, correctional and community agencies as required
- Participate in program development activities as required
- Involvement in program evaluation, data collection/input into CaseWORKS
- In accordance with a Therapeutic Community Treatment Model, make decisions with a team-based approach
- Make referrals to internal and/or external programs or services, as appropriate
- All other duties as required
Qualifications:
- BSW/MSW or other relevant university degree
- Registration with a professional college (OCSWSSW or CRPO required (candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be considered)
- Preference given to candidates who are already registered or have the capacity to be registered with a professional college
- Certified Addictions Counselor or equivalent an asset
- Previous experience in the field of addictions and group skills mandatory
- Previous experience in residential treatment an asset
- Previous experience in concurrent disorders and trauma an asset
- Lived experience related to addictions and/or mental health an asset
Other Requirements:
- Valid G Driver’s License (G2 level or greater), held for a minimum of 3 years
- Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record
- Reliable Vehicle
- Mandatory on call duty, on a rotational basis
- CSC Clearance conducted by PWGS Canada
- Standard First Aid/CPR C
